FASTEST That one of Europe's fastest 10 km tracks is in Drammen is indisputable. We saw that when the race was born in the spring of 2023. Kenyan world elite and Norwegian runners set personal records in spades. Over 2,000 runners were registered in the first edition. The route is the same as the Drammen half-marathon, but only one round. About 20 meters of elevation in 10 km provides a pleasant experience regardless of level. FIXED OPENING Cross-country skiing has a fixed season opening at Beitostølen, Drammen is to be athletics' answer to Beito with a fixed opening of the running season on the first Sunday in April each year. As we say: Either you set a personal record during the Drammen10k, get motivated for a good season, or you get pissed off because you trained too little in the winter and find motivation in that. Drammen10K is the place to start the season anyway!
Trail description: The start of the Drammen10k is at the corner of Drammenshallen. The trail goes 300 meters straight ahead in a south-easterly direction in Schwartz Gate behind Strømsø centre. After a few hundred metres, the trail takes a right turn into Austadgata before it quickly turns into CO Lunds gate. First you round Elkjøp, then Power, before running past Bangeløkka and rounding into Bjørnstjerne Bjørnsons Gate straight west. The first 1000m is very fast and flat. The trail goes west (up along the Drammenselva) on the 4-lane road. Just before 2000m, you run down the trail's only real hill. Under the railway line at Union. Remember to hold back a bit on the small uphill here. The rest of the trail is flat. After passing Øvre Sund Bridge, the trail turns into Nedre Eikervei along the river, westwards. At Gulskogen farm, we cross into Øvre Eiker Vei. We run in the direction of speed on the county road up to Pukerud/Stormoen. 100 meters past RSA Bil there is a large roundabout which is the turning point for the trail. You are now about halfway through the race. From here and "home" you run the same way in the direction of speed all the way down to Marienlyst. You will meet the other runners on the way up to the turnaround and will experience cheers and a good atmosphere from other runners. At the entrance to Marienlyst and Drammenshallen, you have just under 200m left. The finish line is right outside Strømsø Senter in Schwartz Gate. After the finish line, you will be sluiced back onto the walkway towards Marienlyst and our Expo with luggage storage and changing area. About 90 seconds to go.
